Beautiful deep deep orange vibrant colour. Aroma is caramel, candied orange peel, dried apricots. Oily tears when swirled in the glass. The very long maceration of the grapes has given the wine a lot of tannin, which is quite harsh. Medium acidity, fruity floral flavours. Dried kakhi fruit. Medium to full body with lots of tannin. Long aftertaste. Decant. Maturation potential. Get something spicier to go with it, like a spicy lecho is great.

Description

Today, the white Rkatsiteli is by far the most important variety in its Georgian homeland. As with many old varieties, there are many stories about them: in Christian Georgia, the legend persists that Noah Rkatsiteli is said to have planted the first vine after his ark landed. The close genetic relationship to the local wild vine is not legend, supporting the thesis that the Caucasus is considered the cradle of the first vines consciously cultivated by mankind. Not orange, more like brick in glass. Ripe apple, wax, marzipan, spicy notes, surprisingly high, very lively acidity and, befitting the method of vinification, a considerable amount of tannin.

Pairs well with: bressaola, Georgian badridschani (stuffed aubergine with nut paste), lamb pelmeni, spicy lecho
