Rodina Rojac vyrábí tradiční a poctivé víno v přímořské oblasti Slovenská Istra již od 17. století. Současné vinařství založil zesnulý Bruno Rojac v roce 1994 na Istrii. Nyní je vede Brunův syn Uroš a pokračuje v kombinování tradičních a moderních postupů, a to jak ve vinařství, tak na vinicích.
This dense, dark to black red wine has a strong aroma of exotic spices. The palate is acidic with a subtle sweetness and muted tannins which combine to give a fine fullness and aftertaste in keeping with the aroma.
Pairs well with: grilled or fried meats, stews and most meaty dishes
Grapes: Refošk
As far back as Roman times, 2000 years ago, Refošk, our indigenous grape variety, was often mentioned for its medicinal properties. Historical records show that the Roman Empress Livia Drusilla lived to the enviable age of 86 (for that time), probably (according to various accounts) thanks to the consumption of this black grape, which came from the rocky hills above the River Timawa (on the coast of Trieste) where so few grapes could be grown that only a few amphorae were filled with it. These vineyard sites could be nothing other than the vineyards of this winery. Like for Livia, Refošk (Refosco) is an everyday red wine - serious, powerful, but also alive and kicking thanks to its acidity and elegance, which stem from the poor soil, altitude and position of the vineyards in relation to the sea.
