Biodynamic wine is a separate category of wines in the family of organic wines. It differs in that the entire production process, from the preparation of the land to the bottling of the finished wine, is based on the philosophical concepts of the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, who lived at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Particular attention is paid to the location of the vineyard (terroir). Also important is the winemaker's own preparation of organic fertilisers (also with regard to biological rhythms). The biochemical purity of the vineyard is guaranteed. Maximum use is made of manual operations. Vineyard care is carried out with the phases of the moon and other indicators of nature's natural biorhythms. The mechanical effect on the wine is minimized during winemaking. The production of biodynamic wines is not regulated by EU law, but is governed by organisations such as Demeter or Biodivin.
